Wordpress Plugins

Plugins I use on this blog

Sometimes I see a blog which has some cool functionality, but it is not apparent how they got it. So, if you like anything on my site, here are the wordpress plugins I use:

Spam Karma 2
A pretty good spam filter. It doesn’t require a wordpress API key like Akismet
Code Colorer
This plugin parses code blocks and adds span tags with classes, which you can then style with css. It works both in posts and comments
Daiko’s text widget
Allows you to write php in a text widget
Flexible Upload
Gives you more options on resizing images, adding captions, and can also include a watermark
Friendfeed comments
Puts comments from friendfeed into your post pages
Subscribe to Comments
Allows readers to sign up to receive e-mails when new comments to a post are added
Sociable
Adds some social networking links to your posts, like digg, reddit, and delicious (and many others available)
Wp Cache
Caches pages as plain html for a defined time limit. Regenerates pages when comments are added. Keeps down the load on your server.

Plugins I have written

While I have not written any Wordpress plugins from scratch yet, I have modified several plugins which I find very useful. Thanks to the original authors of the plugins for their work. I hope that some people find these useful.

Collapsing Archives

This plugin creates a list of archives which can be dynamically expanded or collapsed by the year and month. When months are expanded, it lists all the posts in a given month. This allows for quicker navigation of the blog.

You can download it from the href='http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/collapsing-archives/'>wordpress plugin repository

See the collapsing archives page for more details and to report bugs or request features.

Collapsing Categories

This plugin uses Javascript to dynamically expand or collapsable the set of
posts for each category.

You can download it from the wordpress plugin repository

See the collapsing categories page for more details and to report bugs or request features.

Collapsing Pages

In the same spirit as collapsing archives and collapsing categories, except for pages. It gives an expandable and collapsible set of pages organized by page_parents.

You can download it from the href='http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/collapsing-categories/'>wordpress plugin repository

See the collapsing pages page for more details and to report bugs or request features.

Demo

I use the collapsing archives and the collapsing categories plugins in this blog, so simply take a look at the sidebar and try them out.
